A Personal View on Hip Hop, "Generation H"

Being Born In the generation of Hip Hop and what it's meant to all of us is a beautiful thing. Remember when it was wrong to color outside the lines, to talk different, look different or to disagree with the mass? Well no longer is that a factor my people. As a matter of fact hip hop is the all inclusive, all expense paid trip into your own uniqueness. So much so that it can be a downright religion, (and is to some). One where everyone brings their own flavor to the table to shine amongst peers for the sake of downright blacksheepedness. Thass right I said it, BLACKSHEEPEDNES. You see "hip hop" is just a phrase used to bring a sense of ease to those with fear for the unknown, treading lightly within the confines of the NORM. But the MOVEMENT of hip hop, is as global and inner as a mustard seed. Crazy duds, doos and phonetics are welcome here. Willing to express freely to the beat of their own individuality can be downright scary to the expresser as well as to the expresse....Yep, it meant scaling the boundaries passed down unto them from their forefathers and what we came to know as LAW.

In a way Hip Hop was birthed within an already hip hop nation. One that said, "I got a better way", or "Let's do it our way, in Order to form a more perfect Union". But of course, there's always a better way or areas that we could GROW in, so some kinks had to be worked out in this re-birth of a Hip Hop Nation. In this new NATION race, color, creed and other shallow measures of men don't count. It's what you bring to the MOVEMENT, how much light you shine from within that counts. Of course with such a movement great leaders will emerge, had to emerge and come to power. Individuals willing to stand alone and shine freely and desolate. Having the courage to be the OUTKAST because hey, I AM HIP HOP. I like my laces fat or whatever. Breeding within these individuals a characteristic needed to stand bold and make change. While at the same time recognizing the light in others and allowing them, in-COURAGE- ing them to shine bright. Knowing that in some cosmic way, that person's light is their own...As in the words of le Snoopy Doggy Dogg when referring to Eazy-E's dissin remarks toward Dre, "When You Dis Dre YOU Dis Yourself".

So now that the Hip Hop Nation is growin up( But of course, with everso much more bountiful reaches we can aspire to), and these brave individuals are scatter throughout our places of power in the US, I feel a sense of great pride to have partaken in this Hip Hop 101, as a course in life. Also hopeful in my fellow classmates, as we keep propelling forward to make things BETTER. It is a movement that has shaped great individuals unafraid of change and courageous enough to stand alone with fire from within, thus giving a spark to us all that says "I like it better this way", "I'ma try to find the BEST way", or "Show me YOUR WAY". -The Wicksta
